River Plate Wins Argentine Clausura Championship
Argentine club River Plate won the Argentine Clausura championship, beating Olimpo 2-1, with 2 goals from Diego Buonanotte. River Plate has still one game in hand.
River Plate are now four points clear of Estudiantes, who drew 0-0 at home with Colon. River Plate is being coached by Diego Simeone and this is his second success as a manager. Diego Simeone, 38, won his first Argentine championship in 2006, with Estudinates, less than one year after retiring as a player.
Two separate championships -- the Apertura and Clausura -- are played in the Argentine season which does not have an overall champion.
